Belt broken on sit on mower

We have an old sit on mower and the belt has broken, it's in pieces and frayed. How on earth do we know what size to order when the site on line gives us three options?

Is there a site for the make of your mower with a technical description? Do you get it serviced or do you service it yourselves? You could ask the technician if you use one.

OH has been servicing it when he thinks about it @Busy-Lizzie which isn't very often!

Short of getting a local mower mechanic to sort it for you, you'll have to get down there with a felxible tape measure (ie not metal DIY) and measure the circuit it fits round.

I'd be inclined to bite the bullet and get a proper full service and new belt from a professional and then it should last a few more years with OH's TLC.

Quite literally, 'how long is a piece of string'.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I am a retired garden machinery dealer I would advise only using genuine manufacturers belts as they are specifically made to bend both ways around pullies.
And I would get a service carried out by a dealer as there may be underlying reasons for the belt failure

There should be a model number on the mower somewhere - on US models it's usually under the seat (they tip up).  There also may be a serial or model number on the mower deck.  If you can find either, you can generally do an internet search for the model mower or deck and find PDFs of the owner's manual.  Most will have replacement part numbers toward the back of the manual.  I've had good luck finding parts on Amazon; sometimes my equipment is so old there are no OEM parts to be had, but many companies make parts that will replace them.  In your case, the most important thing to know is the size of the mower deck.  Sometimes different size decks can fit the same tractor/mower, and that will affect the belt size.

I think I would be inclined to do as @ColinA says and get it repaired and serviced by a professional.
