It's much the same as with the blue strawberry seeds you can buy on ebay et al. There's no such thing as a blue strawberry, they still sell plenty of them but due to the low value people can't be bothered to complain. Caveat emptor

What a shame you've had such a poor experience @cooper_lou. I would never use T&M or Parkers, although I've used Suttons in the past without a problem. There are so many very good, reliable suppliers - the already mentioned Premier, Chilterns, Fothergills etc, so if you tell us what you're looking for we can offer suggestions too. I've used Simply Seeds several times, and they've been excellent. I just got some new lettuce seed yesterday. Lettuce is something that needs to be pretty fresh - one of the very experienced veg growers on the forum raised that when I had problems with germination a few years ago. He was right - when I got new seed, the germination was fine again. I agree that they often must assume the [generally] low cost of seed means people may not bother to complain, but some seed is becoming expensive. It's not acceptable to be fobbed off though, regardless of the costs.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
