Perhaps I'm missing something but it looks fine to me. Could the yellow leaves just be a result of the really wet weather we've had?
  • Unfortunately it has lost alot of leaves so much so you can look right through it like a spiders web.It has always been so dense and great for the birds to hide .. .not now

It looks fine to me as well. Old leaves quite often turn yellow before falling off. I wouldn't worry about it.

It looks fine for this time of year. The time to worry is when you get dieback from the growing tips and problems with flower and berry formation.

It looks as if you had a lot of berries on it this year which the birds have now eaten, this tends to leave it looking bare, one of mine is the same. Otherwise it looks fine, just normal winter leaf drop of older leaves.
  • Thanks guys I was so worried as it is completely bare inside . . 😊

The very hot summer a few years ago stressed my P out a lot and it got quite bare. Last year it bulked up again. Pruning the bush seems somewhat of an art (which I have not mastered).

I had the same thing with one of ours last year where it lost a lot of foliage in the winter and I think it was due to a real cold snap. They are hardy and reliably evergreen but they can definitely shed leaves due to the weather conditions.
