That is intriguing, @nickoslesteros. Fingers x! Bunny Guinness is an interesting gardener, I often hear her on GQT (BBC radio 4). Is that a ceramic pot with your Star Jasmine in it? Your plant looks healthy. Can I ask how did you make the pot bottomless?!

It actually terracotta, but with an odd glaze. I just cut round the bottom with an angle grinder. It will be an interesting experiment if nothing else!
Jasmine was £9 in b&q. Wouldnt usually shop there, but most plants seemed really healthy. I went round all the local nurseries, but they all looked a little poorly.
B&Q plants are generally fine if you get them when they haven't been at the store long. After that, how well they're looked after seems to be very branch-dependent.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
That is ingenious, @nickoslesteros, I might try cutting some plastic pots and trying that out with other plants. Agree about B&Q being surprisingly good sometimes. I have a Ceanothus and a Jasmine (O.) which both grew healthily and romped away. I hope your Star Jasmine will be bursting with flowers and insects later in the year!

You'll probably be ok if it can root through the bottom into the soil - I would probably have dispensed with the pot and planted direct into the hole. I did something similar and the plant has actually done quite well (it was planted at a small size and has caught up with the bigger expensive ones I bought and planted in the ground!)
