Mini plug plants

B3B3 Posts: 27,505
I would like to buy some mini plug annuals but I don't want a tray of 40 of the same plant!I
Does anyone know if a supplier that does smaller quantities? Pick n mix would be even better for me but I doubt it would be cost effective for the supplier.
In London. Keen but lazy.

GC would be your best bet for a small mixed selection. Unfortunately the GCs near me have very poor web sites so you may have to visit to see what they have.

Depends what you are after, but lots of ebay sellers do small numbers of mini plugs (5 or 6, for example).  I regularly buy plants there and the majority have been excellent.

Last autumn I bought a tray of a single variety of plug plants, namely, Primula, from You Garden. The good thing was there was NO teabag mesh around the roots. I noticed they frequently sell trays of annual or bedding flowering plants, but I am not sure if there is much in way of mixing and matching.

I did buy mix and match bedding plants from Suttons a few years ago. They were in tray form and had NO teabag mesh. The quality was variable but I cannot remember which plants I ordered other than Begonia Illumination series.

So far, I have found You Garden to be reliable and I intend to buy again from them this year.

Not sure I'll be able to get to a GC while they're still available. Missed out last year. Would've liked those ember begonias. I'll have a look on eBay  and maybe persuade OH to let me use his PayPal account.

I know you don't want large quantities @B3, but it might be worth taking a look at Brookside if you want other things besides the begonias.

As well as large quantities of plug plants they do larger plugs in quantities of 5 or so, for example

You might baulk at paying the p&p costs, but you can select the despatch week, and l can vouch for the quality  :)

I've had good results from https://southeasternhorticultural.co.uk for both annuals and perennials to grow on....they sell by 6's which may suit. Price is very good.
