Well, for Jack, you never know. Worth checking all options.

@AnniD I looked at prices offered for DVDs and CDs on one site and was offered the life changing sum of 2p each for some.  That world cruise will just have to wait a bit longer.

It is honestly a lot of hassle to sell or donate things online if you are only going to be getting pennies for them. Much better to donate them to charity shops. At least that way the charities get some money and you don't have to put up with people who can't be bothered to turn up to collect things or who don't reply to messages.

I was offered £1.50 for  a book which I later sold for £200, so do take great care if you do got to a Bookseller.

I’ve just used the site suggested by AnniD to see the worth of the book I wrote on the history of our village. I’m now basking in the knowledge I’ll get 50p for it, and with a small stash in the loft wondering how I might spend £12.50. Hmm … strong drink or loose women?

    Hi All,

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply with resources and thoughts, this is very helpful.

I live in Whitstable, and there are a couple of book donation places, I will pass the ones I think are in good condition for this, and then see how I go with some of the other titles.

    Thanks again all.
  • Our local Tesco has a bin outside the doors under their porch, full of books and a collecting box for you to pay what you want.
Every Drs. surgery seems to have a bookshelf selling books for 50p.
My local P.O. sells second-hand books for charity.
Mainstream charities will come collect boxes of books, do not fill moving boxes as they can weigh a ton.
I have always enjoyed going on courses. photography, pottery, art, cookery, crafting  etc. and always bought my books 2nd hand from charity shops etc. I also always have a couple of brain candy paperbacks in the car to read when waiting for appointments, usually purchased for 25p from somewhere.

A local gardening club may be delighted with them, may even have their own "library".
East Dorset, new (to me) rather neglected garden.
