Hedges too sparse

Hello, the hedge at the front of our house is too sparse, the blue bin shows the mid point, left is OK but right is not good at night. To the left of the bin on the other side is the end of a neigh ours ditch which then runs underground in front of the sparse hedge, we have a drainage pipe there to assist about a metre in front of the sparse hedge. Is there something I could grow in between the existing hedge or would you remove and replant some tall screening hedge in place. Whatever goes there needs to be able to tolerate wetter ground.

Hello @peteraddy200573460 and welcome to the forum.  May I ask firstly if you know what variety your hedge is made of? It looks to be a native variety of hedging but it's difficult to tell at this time of year.

My initial thinking is that you should be brave and chop the lot down to about a foot from the ground to enable it to re-sprout which will make it thicker at the base but it would be handy to know what it is.

If it is native hedgerow species get someone in to lay it. Or have a go yourself if you’re a practical type.
