Apple Tree Grown Horizontal

Hello! I Have a apple Tree that was in a built up area and was forced to grow horizontal.

Is there anyway I can straighten it up?

    It depends on how flexible the branches are. I  wouldn't attempt to get it fully upright but train it to to be an espalier or a fan . Put horizontal  wires on the fence, use  bamboo canes across the wires . Tie the branches in gradually if you can.  Advice on RHS  website.

    @deano_liv73070 , oh dear that's a very sorry specimen isn't it?

    I would be inclined to prune all the long branches by half, water it very well, then dig it up carefully, keeping as many roots as possible, and replant it as vertically as you can.

    Prepare the new planting position well, with topsoil mixed with manure before replanting at least a metre away from the fence, in a sunny position. Keep it well watered for the rest of the year.

    However, apple trees are not that expensive to buy so you may feel the above is not worth the bother.

    If you don’t know the variety and it’s not been fruiting in previous years,!i think I’d grit my teeth and get rid of it … if you want apples replace it with a couple of new ones … before you buy do check that they’re compatible varieties that will be suitable pollinators for each other.
