Morello cherry

I have just bought a bare-root Morello Cherry tree from B &M which I am going to try growing in a large container for a couple of years to see how it does in my storm-battered garden. I had one in my previous garden and the fruit has a wonderful flavour, if you can pick them before the blackbirds take them..

We have 3 different cherry trees and the morello is the only one that the birds don't take!
  • You are very lucky. In my previous garden, there was a huge wild cherry which was always loaded with fruit but the birds used to eat the fruit before it ever ripened. The blackbirds used to almost climb up the trunk of the Morello to get under the netting.
