Are these all blind?

Hey folks, are these all blind? How do I know? They look very skinny and are also very tall for this time of year. Should I wait a bit or chuck them out to make room summer bulbs to be planted in Feb?

They look a little bit like my Dutch Iris..they don’t flower until much later in Springtime.

I agree … it’s far too early to be expecting flowers from Dutch iris.

I have iris that do the exact same thing, throw out really long leaves, then wait months for some short lived flowers. But they do come back every year.

  • Thanks everyone, I am so excited to have a garden again, I'm just getting impatient. It's only January I know  :D

Yes, give them a bit longer to see if any buds develop.
  • Iris have a habit of showing leaves for a long time. Just when you’re ready to give up the flower springs out in a matter of days. It’s quite usual for the foliage to grow and stall for a while.

I think they look more like alliums, many of which have early stems and foliage, but that's slightly irrelevant.
If they're in the way of other things you want to put in @dannyharropgriffiths46208, just take them out. It shouldn't be difficult to do that  :)
The Dutch Irises aren't usually reliable in terms of being perennial. Do you know what you planted?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • I've kind of inherited the garden from my Mum, who now has dementia and is not able to garden very much. So it's a bit of a suprise what's coming up! I will be mapping out the garden and the plants in the coming months 😎
