Wax plants, inquiring about how to encourage flower growth

Hello everyone,

I have been growing this Wax Plant for a year now, and I'm wondering if there's any way to encourage flower growth rather than focusing on the plant itself.

If you have any recommendations, I would be very grateful.

This plant has 1 year and 2 months from the first picture to the third one.

Cheers! 🌱

I think l'm right in saying that a wax plant is a Hoya ? They certainly look very healthy  :)

They usually flower when mature, so it may be that yours ae stll classed as youngsters. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can tell you how old they heed to be before they flower.

    Whereabouts do you live ?

We have Hoya carnosa and it did take some years to flower. If yours does flower do not cut off the old flower stalks as this is where the next flowers will come from. I hope it will flower for you soon as the fragrance is lovely.
The following link (albeit from Ohio not the UK) has some very useful information.

You are right, it is Hoya! As a Spanish speaker, I did not know the name before this post. It was only "Flor de Nacar" to me.

Thanks for that. They are growing healthily :), and yes, apparently, I will have to wait for those flowers.

I live in Montevideo, Uruguay and we are in summer at this moment.

Thanks for your answer and the link. I have started to read the article, and it has very good information for me! As I have been reading the comments, it takes some years to produce flowers, so, no rush :)

I did not know about the fragrance, so I will wait for that too!

The flowers are certainly worth the wait and I don't think you will have to wait long as your plants look larger than when mine flowered. They have always flowered for me in the spring.

Very nice plants! I was trimming my Hoya and noticed it bled white sap in a similar way to star jasmine, and has a generally similar look to the leaves and stems; and you can really see that in your photo. Sure enough, they are fairly closely related!
