Lavender

Hi. My Lavenders are getting very old and woody. I would like to replace them. What is the best time of the year to plant new ones and can they be planted in the same place as old ones. Thank you.

I had an old lavender hedge some years ago. It got messy and woody so I dug it up, dug in some compost and planted a new lavender hedge. It was fine. Best time to do it is the spring. It will then start into new growth and develop good roots before the next winter.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
