Tree Identify

I'm a complete novice trying to sort out our garden. Can anyone identify this tree? It's about 18ft tall.
Also it would be good to know if it can be trimed down a bit! Thanks.

    I think its a Juniper Communis , they don't take well to hard pruning

    I'll take a couple of better pics tomorrow.  If it helps, there are no berries or cones.

    Looks like a Chamaecyparis (possibly Boulevard).
