Summer fruting Raspberry canes help!!

Hey
i had a big operation this year which meant vi didnt get back to the plot until october.As a result ive no real idea which are this years and which next years canes.Should i cut them all back to the ground and start again(which im not against), or will next summers canes fruit and the ones left remain without leaves?(ie will i be able to tell the difference
Be good to get some advice please

    The newer canes will be paler in colour at the base.
    So if you remove the darkest, roughest canes and leave the lightest you should be ok.

    Agreed,  another check you can do is scrape a little bark away
     If there's green underneath then it's alive,  if brown it's dead and can be cut out.

    The easiest way to tell is last year's canes will have dried fruited remnants on them even if the raspberries were harvested. It's exactly the same for blackberries.
