I still think Alan Titchmarsh's books are a great read for novices/reference and are widely available from charity shops. I dip into my AT collection most weeks, his books on Bulbs, Small Garden Design and Pruning are amongst the best. I also enjoy Graham Stuart Thomas's Colour in the Winter Garden, Beth Chatto's Diary and Carol Klein's. I have four shelves full of gardening books.
They're great to have @Lizzie27 have to value anything that doesn't need a web connection or power to be there for reference. We live our lives in front of screens a book is always welcome 😉
Gardens Illustrated magazine: The Feb issue is one you might want to check out if have been pondering whether to get it. It has an extensive Dixter plant list (off the beaten path), extensive exploration of drought tolerant planting, a focus on aconites, perennial meadow planting, snowdrops and bringing back rare British native flowers.
A question on this. I’m deciding between this book and the kindle version. Are the photos all just nice illustrations or are there step by step how to photos?
