Where there are bank/field voles there are very likely to be kestrels and owls … keep your eyes open for them 😊

We live right by a large common/wood and I regularly see birds of prey hovering in the sky above the common and occasionally in the wood when I’m walking there.  They never seem to come anywhere near the house though apart from the very occasional Sparrow hawk.  That one sits on my fence waiting to swoop in on the bird feeder a few houses away!!  I’m sure there will be owls on the common but I’ve never seen one there or in my garden.  I’ve only seen a fox on the common once in 10 years.  There are loads of rabbits (or maybe hares) and obviously rats and mice so I think they have plenty of prey without coming near the houses.  The common is a fair size and is surrounded by loads of fields too so they have a large area.  I get rats (sadly!), mice, hedgehogs, bats, slow worms and loads of birds in the garden though.

Possibly when they have youngsters to feed they’re up and about and hunting earlier than you are? 😉

Some extra holes have appeared in the last 2 days.  There are 3 now in that area!  Trail camera hasn’t shown anything useful yet but I’ve repositioned it today.
