Peach trees in pots

Had bad leaf curl last spring but good recovery over summer. These have been outside till now. Buds just starting to form. When would you recommend I protect them from rain?

    My friend who was a gardener at a stately home with a big walled garden and lots of fruit would try to get the peaches and nectarines covered by Christmas … she said they must be done first thing in the New Year,  and if she got it done by Christmas that meant she could have a slightly longer Christmas and New Year break .., so I’d get on with it now if I were you.
