Near Eastbourne seafront,Beachy Head end. I thought it was maybe a winter lonicera, but the gorgeous lemony scented flowers smell like a Daphne.

Your first thought was correct @Nanny Beach - Lonicera purpusii

Clay soil - Cheshire/Derbyshire border.

I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful
