Suggestions for a new planter

I have recently ordered a wooden trough with trellis attached. The container is 70cm x 30cm x30cm and the trellis will be about 55cm high.
It will be positioned at right angles to a south facing brick house wall which gets very hot in summer.
I want it to screen my dalek compost bin. The trellis cannot be any higher as it will get in the way of the rotary washing drier.
Initially I was intending to grow tomatoes in it, but I'm now wondering if something more ornamental would be better.
I would welcome any ideas. Thanks.

It needs to be non-poisonous to cats as I have two house cats who love to wander around the garden with me and chew everything.

It has just occurred to me that I have a Geranium Rozanne planted in a bed and I was thinking of moving it to a pot as it seems to cover everything. Do you think it would climb up the trellis?

Is your main goal to screen the dalek and do you need evergreen screening do you think?

The main goal is to screen the dalek but I'm not bothered about evergreen as it's down the side of the house and I'm not often out there in winter.

@kate.james58 When planting in troughs it is the depth of the trough needs to be considered. Is there enough room for roots? Also compost becomes spent over time and will need replacing.

Thanks @GardenerSuze, the container is 30cms deep. I grow a lot of things in containers as my garden is mainly paved.

Geranium Rozanne is a sprawler rather than a climber and has no tendrils or twining habit to attach itself to a trellis.  I’d go for an annual climber like Thunbergia which can be grown from seed and flowers until the first frosts, happy in a container.
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.

Yes I agree an annual like Thunbergia would be a good idea.
