Problems with Hellebores

Hi! I wonder if anyone has any experience or advice. These have been here 4 years and been the same each year. I have tried slug control, bug spray on the leaves, but it seems like they are either being eaten or not happy. It's a nice damp shady area and neighbours are much better!! Thanks!!

Another issue I'm afraid is the wooden edges to the bed. Slugs snails and woodlice love to lurk there.
