Choosing grass/ ground cover for an area

Hi, i recently changed around a section of lawn into the attached bed/path. Long term I'm going to make the triangular bed on the left bigger,to cover the strange little section but for now it's staying as is.

With regards to the strange sections is currently got allium underneath but I'm looking for grass or ground cover to go over for the year until I can reshape the bed but struggling what I can put down now or in the spring that won't interfere with the alliums.

The sections gets sun until around 11/12 in midsummer then is shaded for the rest of the day, with quite a heavy clay soil.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hakonechloa macra might be nice, would look good with alliums coming through and perhaps the odd hardy geranium.

If it's only short term, it's not really worth investing a huge amount, unless there are plants you definitely want for the space. If you get something like nasturtiums, you can direct sow those once temperature and weather conditions improve. They'll produce plenty of foliage, and flowers, and certainly won't inhibit the alliums you have. Easy to acquire from almost anywhere too.
Almost any low growing plant from seed will do the job though  :)
