Inside lemon spider plants

Hi my spider plants grow well the roots are bursting out the bottom and top of pots just I can't seem to grow bushy leaf ones. I've got loads of babies and limit the amount to one baby stem as Iet can easily get 3 baby stems with loads of babies on each. How do I get more bushy mum plants do I let the babies develop more before growing on?  Can I cut back roots or will they die?

  • It sounds like they need potting on ..

    Can you post a photo?
  • Solved! I went for it and unpotted all my spiders. Broke them free of all compost and carefully unravelled roots then chopped bottom half off of the roots even though they were healthy and potted back up in same pots with fresh compost. They are now bouncing with lovely green growth and I can keep in the same sized pots. I estimate need to do about every 2yrs?
