Blueberries and alkaline soil.. I've made a mistake!

After a disastrous attempt to grow blueberries years ago, in 2021 I tried again and bought 3 small plants of different types - Aurora, Bluecrop and Draper.

They are now in 3 planters (courtesy of youngest's boyfriend) around the back door providing good harvests and autumnal colour. I haven't needed to net them yet (can't understand why the birds haven't been interested :D)

They are in ericaceous compost, fed maybe fortnightly during the growing season, only watered with rain water and topped up with chopped up Xmas tree mulch around now!

Well worth it to get this every morning for breakfast!

Their autumn colour is gorgeous isn’t it  @Biglad?  Don’t worry, I expect the blackbirds will find yours before long  … they ignored ours for the first couple of years  … 🙄

It certainly is d-fab. They take it in turns to fruit and then put on a display as well.

I've been poised and waiting for attacks to start. Maybe this year :o

They sneak in early in the mornings @Biglad … they also like blueberries for breakfast  😖
