Climbers in a wet & windy area

Hi
I have lost several climbers over the last couple of years in the winter. They are growing in a SW facing location which is part of a bog garden near the pond. I am wondering if it is the combination of wet and wind, whether growing them in a pot dug into the bog garden would help protect them. Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you.

It would depend on the climber, but you can't plant something in a bog garden unless it specifically likes those conditions, regardless of the aspect. There aren't many climbers which would like permanently wet feet   :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • I would agree with Fairygirl. Beware any climbers advertised as suitable for growing in wet conditions as they are likely to be excessively rampant and will take over the whole garden in a couple of years.
  • Thank you fairygirl and Joyce.

If you can give us some more info on the type of plants you've tried, and maybe a couple of photos of the site, that would help with further advice and other suggestions @coralhar220228.   :)
