Stagshorn fern growing from bottom of pot

I hung my stagshorn fern in a tree for the summer and when I brought it in there are “leaves” covering the bottom of the pot and partway up the sides. Is this a new plant or the same plant? How do I repot it? I can’t sit it down in the shower anymore to water it or I will damage the bottom leaves. It’s a big plant in a very small pot
