Overwinterring salvias

Hello again.  I have dug up my salvias as we have heavy clay in Dorset.  I have cut them all back but they are showing signs of life.  Should they be in a dark garage??

  • I don't see that as a problem...most of mine are in pots around the garden and a couple still in flower. The winter hasn't been harsh as yet so lost keep going. You offer them extra protection, let them be.

They look fine where they are, but don't over water them through the winter.
  • My friend just leaves them in her greenhouse with very little water. Does it matter if they flower they can always be cut back.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

No, I wouldn't keep them in the dark
