Would you take a battery powered vibrating pill?

  • Not that long ago people might have asked a similar question about a heart pacemaker … or a cochlear implant …
My vagal nerve stimulator has a battery with a limited lifespan. I've already had to have the battery changed once. I was told that it was likely that by the time I needed another battery change (seems that they don't take Duracell), I'd be fitted with a rechargeable battery.

This of course leads to the question as to HOW I get recharged!!  Attach me to the desktop by a USB wire? Or to the mains like you do with an electric car?
And how long will it take? I've not got all day!!
  • I had the original in place in 2005. The first replacement was done in 2014. This was half the size of the first, and I was told would last longer.
Admittedly it did rattle about for a year or so, before I grew round it naturally. That was an odd feeling. Every time I turned over in bed, I could feel it move. A perceptible "clunk".

The suppository option already seems to be very popular...

You see now, it's always Mr Edges that takes the discussion off piste. I refuse to be drawn. :D
  • I can absolutely see that obesity is a problem but to me a daily pill (it seems what they are also talking about) means more stuff with potentially damaging results being thrown down the loo. Like plastic particulates, each one may be tiny but what is the total effect of possibly millions of people's daily batteries? It just seems like yet again nature may end up suffering while we try to scrape up problems that are largely of our making.

Maybe if the pills could only be taken after a very long walk and no food eaten for at least 6 hours afterwards they would be a good idea and would definitely work better.

I believe Gloop sell some similar products, but designed for a different purpose.
How can you lie there and think of England
