What are the white spots on my photinia leaves?!

I have just noticed my photinia red Robin has lots of white spots on the red leaves. The green leaves don't seem to be affected much. It's in a bit of a shaded spot between a couple laurels, and gets no sunlight at this time of year. It's a new plant - been in position since last summer. Is it leaf spot? Or powdery mildew? I'm not sure what to do!

At the centre of many of the spots there's a bit of necrosis.
We had some frosts a while ago and it may have been caused then.
They're delicate new leaves. If they had rain on them then it froze that would probably cause the sort of damage shown in your pic.

It could be powdery mildew, but I'm not sure it looks right for that.

Either way, those leaves will likely drop off and fresh new ones grow in the spring. So hopefully it's nothing to worry about.

Thanks very much for your reply. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it gets any worse. Hopefully next year it will start to flourish and I can relax - my worry was that it is only young so might not survive anything major!

@soeg44 The problem could be that it is recovering from the stress of being planted out and needs time to settle. It will make it vulnerable to various problems. I think you need to give it time.
