Griselinia littoralis ( New Zealand Privet ) Vs Thuja Hedge

Hello, I am trying to decide between a Griselinia littoralis hedge or a Thuja hedge. The position is quite exposed and can quite windy. I would only like the hedge around a metre tall. I like both of these hedges but cannot decide.

Thankyou

Hello @gregsparker198167174. I grow both. Griselinia would be easier to maintain at that height. As long as you are not subject to harsh winters where you are and have reasonable soil which is well drained, it should be fine.

I grow mine as hedges and specimen shrubs in many different locations, including windy, exposed positions. The two hedges I have are 2 metres high but I keep one of them to just 0.5 metres in depth, seen here in front of my neighbour's laurel hedge.

    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.
