what is biting me and how can i stop it!!

i have been bitten the whole of the summer months and thought i was safe in december but no went out to do some cutting back and clearing and was bitten on my face in three separate places - what can i do i don't want not to be able to go out in to my garden

    i live in bishops cleeve, cheltenham - i am not sure of the name of the plant i was cutting back

    Can you show is a picture? It might give us a clue what biters are likely to be living in it

    Possibly/probably mosquitoes. In London they are still around. You can go out into your garden. They were probably just disturbed by the cutting back. I emptied out some abandoned buckets yesterday and some flew out. It was a reminder to me to keep emptying out containers, even though it seems too cold for them.

    Probably mosquitos or midges. I've been told that Avon Skin so Soft keeps them away, they don't like the smell I think. Otherwise go to the chemist and buy a repellent.

    There is, in fact, a blasted mozi in my bedroom tonight. It was -3C here last week but the mozis don't seem to have noticed.

  • i have ordered avon citronella so soft spray - hopefully that will work
