Will look out for some Darmera, there is plenty of room down in the bog garden, less of a garden, more of a permanently waterlogged area! Sounds like it would be ideal there.
Mine has grown over the stone edge of the bed where it is planted, down into the little stream that feeds the small pond. The thick rhizomes hold the stones tightly in place and have reached across to the other side.
I moved some to the boggy hollow and it took off and started popping up everywhere. At least it gives me something solid to stand on! The flowers are pretty but always appear quite early in spring on long stems so can look a bit lonely and odd. The leaves follow on as the flowers are fading and can get quite large, though smaller than Gunnera. They die back untidily in autumn so I always cut them back. The rhizomes can easily be cut with a sharp spade and don't have impossibly deep roots, so control is fairly easy.
