Drunken Paperwhites

I am doing Christmas paper white narcissus on the windowsill in water for the first time, and have been reading about using an alcohol solution for watering to reduce leaf height (to stop them 'flopping').  Evidently it does not affect blooms.

Has anyone tried it?  Was it successful?  Advice or tips?  I don’t want to waste my Christmas spirts!

    I grow mine up between decorative twigs that support them. Just very thin sticks with plenty of side branches that overlap when arranged so they form a loose basket.
    If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

    That sounds lovely.. I could do that, I have them in a ceramic white pot with large gravel.

    I bought those,  only once,  made up a pot for my mum,  my daughter and myself.  When they bloomed we all agreed on the smell,  dog sh*t,  we all put them out in the garden.

    With a smell like that, I'd have put them beyond the garden.

    @rowlandscastle444 we have a big garden 😀
    The blooming things are only for a year as well,  once bloomed that’s the end of them.

    Definitely.  To me it’s the old saying,  neither use nor ornament,   but some people may like the smell,  we all have different noses.
