Shed base

I posted few days back about replacing a shed.
Still trying to decide on something.

Ive started to think though about the slope the current shed sits on and that it could be a bigger problem than I first thought. It's propped up on bricks at the back, I never realised before, but still slopes even with this. Best I can measure the back sits at least 7.5" lower than the front. I think I'll need a level concrete base for a new shed to sit on. If it's 4" at the front (to lift it clear of the wet ground because the whole of the garden slopes downwards towards the shed and that's what's caused the floor to rot) then the back will need to be about 11.5" high! That's a lot of concrete.

Has anyone managed to build something level on a slope? And if so how?  I'm thinking it might need a small brick wall behind it or something.

  • Hi.
When I made the base for my 10x12 shed  I needed to get the frame at a different height at each corner despite some digging. I will try and find a photo but I found some galvanised spikes with a flat steel plate which I could put some hard-core down and level the frame at each support point. Could not have afforded to fill the entire area. I then built the shed on top of the custom frame.
  • Picture of the spikes with the disk that rotate down onto some compressed hardcore, needed some hammering in but then the disk goes down to stop it sinking further. Other picture of the frame as a whole with various sources of hardcode under each support. I did put some extra timber after this but it was too nearly too heavy to move at this stage.
