Campervan

This isn't a gardening related question, but would appreciate your advice.
I'm currently in a campervan on crown land. I am opposite someone's house and they've asked me to move on as they find it intrusive and I wouldn't like it if they camped outside my house. Whst are the rules?

  • Where abouts are you?  As far as I can gather, there's no right to park on crown land in the UK or Ireland... and you need permission from the landowner to park elsewhere.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

'Travellers' get moved on pretty quickly if they park almost anywhere without permission.  I would guess the OP would be in a similar position.  Rubbish and other waste disposal can be of concern to locals.
  • If you want to camp off the beaten track a bit join the Caravan and Motorhome Club and seek out their Certificated Locations.
Just a few pitches in a meadow … that sort of thing … often you’re the only van on site … and you can
be sure you’re not going to annoy folk.

  • Is the Camper van a temporary situation whilst you look for a permanent property to buy/rent or do you intend to remain a free roamer so to speak ?
If the former, I think there are various organisations which you could contact for help and advice.
I'm not sure about the latter option as people do tend to object to "travellers" for various reasons when parked nearby.
Whatever situation you are in, keep warm as we approach winter  :)
  • I'm sorry you're being treated in this way.
On the one hand, your neighbours have no legal standing to require you to do anything - it's not their land.
On the other, I can imagine that it's uncomfortable for both you and them, knowing that they don't want you as a neighbour in this particular location.
I wonder if there is a conversation to look at ways they might feel less intruded upon?
If I were in your position I'd be thinking of a solution to the possibility that your neighbours might contact the landowner to ask them to require you to leave.
