    I'm no fan of seeing trees removed but it looks like a timely intervention here.

    I've never understood the allure of Monkey Puzzles in domestic gardens, they look utterly dreadful in anything but the largest estate, and even then the tree has to work extremely hard and catch me on a good day to win me over.

    Thought you might like to see what we are left with.
    Roots exposed and waiting to be cut.
    Roots cut and moved away. There are still lots of them buried though.
    The fork gives an idea of the girth of the stump.
