Moving shrub, roses and hybrid tea roses

Hello everyone. I am moving house in December/January. I’ve read several posts here about moving climbers or shrub roses. However I wanted to clarify from your opinions best method to transport my 5 year old hybrid tea roses and shrub roses. My particular query is should I be pruning before digging up, and if so how soon before hand. The largest is approximately 5 feet tall and other’s about 4 feet. My plan was to prune each rose to a height of around 18 inches to 2 feet. Then dig up as much root as I could. I anticipate using grow bags to transport with each being out of the ground for no more than 48 hours. Any guidance hints or tips would be hugely appreciated.
Thank you.

What you are proposing is exactly what I did, but I used compost bags. On arrival you can heel them in to a spare patch of earth or leave them in a bucket of water for 24 hours, before planting. All mine survived. I didn't take them to my new house though, apart from one which was in a pot, because I gave them to my daughter. My new garden wasn't ready.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
