Bizarre news headline of the day

Oh the incomprehensible click-baiting and mangling of the English language to fit a headline! Just popped up on my newsfeed..

Moped rider hits cyclist with cat’

Oh how horrible to use a cat as an offensive weapon! However, it goes on to explain..

Viral cyclist and cat knocked off bike by ‘impatient’ moped driver

So now the cat was on the bike, a casualty not an offensive weapon, but the cyclist has a virus? At least the moped driver was merely ‘impatient’, so that’s alright then.

Turns out the only innocent party was the poor cat!

It drives me nuts. I try to avoid opening articles just to see what the hell they are talking about.

    Was it Sigrid?
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • Why is the word Impatient in inverted commas?

I mostly ignore them Fire, but the mental image of a moped rider swinging a cat..

It was indeed Sigrid, wild edges, poor b*gger.

The ’ ‘ were theirs, Alan, the story has gone now and I can’t recall why.

what is a "Viral Cyclist" - has he some terrible STD?
  • Why is the word Impatient in inverted commas?
Impatience is relative, @Alan Clark2 in Liverpool
Some people would say he/she was, while others would not.
Basically, the majority of moped riders I come across, are impatient. In my opinion 😊.

It gets even more bizarre. I watched the video and an unmarked police car witnessed the accident. The police officer told the cyclist off for not wearing a helmet but didn't say much to the moped rider who knocked him over. Now the cyclist has been reported to the RSPCA and been sent death threats for endangering the cat.

He said "There is nothing unsafe about cycling". That seems rather delusional if he's cycling in London. Maybe he doesn't know many people who have been killed on the roads.

I think it was the Daily Telegraph that had the headline ‘Shell found on Beach’.
