@1154 If you do opt for Cotinus Grace pruning can be a puzzle. There is a thread here relating to pruning will try to find. If you have a large space you could just let it grow like the one in your photo. Leaves will be smaller and you will get flowers or 'smoke', if you prune each year leaves are larger no flowers growth is more lax and some of the numerous stems may snap.
