How to protect jasmine from a frost - in a pot, and in the ground

Last year I lost my jasmine plants to frost. How can I protect my jasmine this winter?

As far as I know it's jasmine officinale.

I have one jasmine in a large pot, and I have another planted in the ground (in a large pocket of soil under the gravel). Both have now climbed up their supports by 4 or 5 feet so plenty of exposed foliage.

We're in the East of England and it's pretty windy here.

Any advice please?

thanks

:)

I mulch with Strulch, but if it gets really cold. I use horticultural fleece too (bought on a roll or in bag form). Have you had your Jasminum Officianale for a while? Edited to say they both look good! I put Strulch around the top of the soil or pot  in late autumn, as a mulch, and put fleece up in the evening of a predicted frost and usually remove it during the day. I use fleece around the lower parts of the plant, not all over, but it depends on how cold, I think.

I've never lost jasmine in the ground, and its been down to minus 15C here.  Jasmine in pots could get frozen roots, wrap and insulate the pots and  keep it on the dry side (not bone dry) in really cold weather.  Last year I lost a lot of stuff in pots that got sodden and then frozen, which has survived previous winters.  If you can use pot  raisers so it drains well that should help.
