Begonia leaves losing its metallic shine

I put my indoor begonia on a sideboard around 1m away from a south facing window. It is not a particularly bright position. It has performed well but lately I notice some of its leaves have lost the silvery metallic shine. Part of the leaves turned green and the purple centre started to fade too.
I searched online to find confusing reasons. Some said begonia loses the shine if it gets too much light, while some said this type of begonia loves bright position. What can I do about it?
