I do like the heavily cupped style of roses like Claire Austin or Wollerton Hall. I did say semi double or double flowered, but that was as an opener. Anything that grows well would be most welcome!

Are you thinking that pale roses would do better on a north facing wall?

No, they are just the two that come to mind. There are repeat ramblers with scent but they are mostly enormous.

Would you not call Wollerton or C. Austin "double"?  Maybe fuller than that. One of your given priorities was scent, and both have that in spades.

More than double probably. I was thinking of pollinators as an opener, but I would prefer a healthy double etc than a weak single. Scent is a must. I think I have my selection now. Thankyou.

This is a rambler and the bumf says it’s tall, but my old ma grew it along a six foot high fence many years ago and it flowered its socks off.

And it is one of the few roses that I can smell, so it must be smelly!

Thanks again, pansy face. I ordered Rosa Emily Gray from Trevor White and hope to help it thrive in my garden. I cannot wait to see it flowering and smell the scent! ☺️

Emily Gray bare root - new shots and leaves visible -  in a pot, waiting to be planted later this year.

I hope she grows well for you. Any reason why she can't be planted soon? Don't plant her in April/May as that's when the new fine white roots will be forming, so Peter Beales Roses told me.

I've just planted "Narrow Water" for a dappled shade fence place.

I may be being stupid, but I thought most ramblers only flowered once, but that many climbing roses repeat flowered.
How can you lie there and think of England

There are quite a number of repeat flowering ramblers now. CD said above that she was happy with a once flowering rose for this position.
