Will a rhubarb plant regenerate from taproot left in ground?

Hi
We have just dug up our rhubarb plant, but a reasonable chunk was left in the ground (including the taproots- but no eyes). Do you think this section left in the ground will regenerate into a new plant?

Yes it should do.
Time will tell next spring.

My experience of trying to remove rhubarb is that it will most likely reappear!
