Purple Poppies

Not  the best place to post but I hope that many forum readers will see this message.
I have just seen alot of purple knitted poppies along with red ones at a church a few miles away.
I was informed by one of the ladies who was installing it that a knitting group had been busy making the purple poppies mainly for the British Legion to sell in memory of the animals that have died in conflict.

  • Yes we were out walking today. They plan to fill the netting with poppies over the next few years. I hate knitting but perhaps I will give it a go over the winter months for next year.

You’re in luck then, those look crocheted rather than knitted.   ;)

  • I helped knit poppies for my sisters village when they had their 100 year anniversary of WW1. I hadn’t knitted for years but the pattern was very easy to do. There was also a crochet version

I bought a purple knitted poppy quite a few years ago @GardenerSuze to commemorate all the brave animals that have died in conflicts.  My last dog and my current dog always wore it on their collars during the poppy period but I was really upset as I couldn’t find where I’d stored it when I tried to find it a few weeks ago, so my dog is wearing a red poppy this year instead.

I've been wearing red and purple poppies for many years. Great to see the animals being remembered alongside the humans.

@GardenerSuze  There is a lovely monument in London “The Animals in War Memorial” near Hyde Park, it’s so beautiful and very moving.
