Moving Rudbekia

IvyhouseIvyhouse Posts: 111
I have a bed of Rudbekia which I want to change but don’t yet have a space to put them. Would it be ok to pot them up for the Winter and re-plant in the Spring.
Tia.

Oh yes. Most of the hardy Rudbeckias produce rhizomes from which the following year's growth emerges. This can make them quite invasive but also makes them pretty near indestructible. I moved all my Rudbeckia 'Goldsturm' from one bed to another last year but still get the odd bit springing up in the old site.

I've just split and replanted a bed of rudbeckia that had got rather invasive, potted up loads to give away!
