plant lights

Hi I think most people here have gardens but as someone who doesn't I have lots of indoor plants with a few outdoor on windowsill ledges. I got an email about an actual light bulb you can use instead of a normal light bulb in a room and thinking of buying,
Just wondered if anyone has had any experience of these?

If you mean you could swap it out for a ceiling bulb, it wouldn't work. Grow lights need to be close to the plants.

Yes that's what the company rep said over phone but going to still try. Can always use it an ordinary lamp if goes badly. Just going to use over winter.

It should be ok, but as said above the bulb will need to be no more than about 6-10" above the plants to be effective.
If you have several plants you may need several bulbs.
An ordinary light bulb will not work at all.

  • Find your local, ahem, hydroponics shop for advice. You’ll meet some really laid back folk who know more about growing plants in artificial light indoors than almost anyone else.
  • I need to add a point from my own experience: there are some grow lamps that have lenses, and you can place them at a height. Its samples are available in online stores.
