neighbour upset by brown branches of over pruned hedge, advice on how to disguise ?

    Planting ivy is just adding another problem for the future, assuming the OP is considering removing the hedge at a later date.  Established ivy is near impossible to get rid of completely.  I've yet to find a weedkiller which touches it, despite the claims on many packages.

    Stay out of it and don't do anything. It's up to your neighbour to obscure the view from his side if it offends so badly. Certainly don't plant ivy. Bind weed will probably grow up it anyway

    I don't think your neighbour across the lane has any business complaining about your garden. Would you chop down an apple tree if he said the sight of red apples upsets him?

  • I agree with the others … don’t fall into the trap of being Piggy in the Middle and trying to please both factions … it’s your home, do what suits you, while being pleasant and polite to both, of course 😊
