Swarm of Ladybirds

Forgot to post this yesterday. At lunchtime we looked at our large front window to see hundreds and hundreds of ladybirds flying and seemingly trying to come in. Had to shut the front window quickly. It was a quite warm, very sunny mid-day. We've not seen many ladybirds all summer so why now and where did they all come from?

Do any birds eat them?

They are trying to find somewhere to hibernate for the winter. I have hundreds of final instar in my garden. They are all going to want somewhere to hide.

  • Lucky you @Lizzie27 worst year for Ladybirds here so far (SW Somerset ) - probably seen less than 10  :(

I would like to swap you your ladybirds for my stink bugs. They are indoors, outdoors, everywhere 🙄
