This question and answer just came up on BBC radio 4 Gardeners' Question Time today. The questioner had red coloured worms: effectively a worm bin...worth a listen, @nikki 7 !
Sorry to witness the demise of the forum. 😥😥😥😡😡😡I am Spartacus
They may come up if it rains as well, some anti-drowning instinct perhaps. When my wormery seems to be running a bit hot I add torn strips of newspapers, worms love a good mulch of shredded paper or cardboard. I take a whole section of newspaper or (non-glossy) magazine, make cuts along the folded side with secateurs, and tear a thick layer of strips off at each cut. It's also preferable if the bin does not get too much full sun.
...create bookworms. I think you will notice that the worms like the spine best, where all the glue is. There are theories that the glue is full of protein which is hard come for them otherwise..
