@DaveGreig it's not ill consider I wouldn't mention it otherwise. 1500+ around 1000 bought in the autumn sales planted between Christmas eve and new year day would show otherwise ( garden gallery page 13 onwards), bulbs tend to flower later if planted late
I do agree with crocus but you can pop them in a tray of water overnight to rehydrate them. I don't touch erythoriumm in the sales
I agree with @Perki re bulbs. I get the named varieties earlier in the season then wait for the bargains later on as it gives me the opportunity to try varieties I wouldn't normally consider. I avoid sellers like Suttons as I have had substandard and wrongly named products from them but reputable sellers are certainly worth it. Last year I filled a raised bed with random bargain daffs and had some marvellous cut flowers that filled the house with perfume.
I have bought shrubs and tulip bulbs late, on offer, from Crocus in the past, and found few problems other than finding a time the following year, to plant the shrubs. (I wish I had planted the shrubs in autumn, no matter how late). Erratic weather these days means alot of waiting for 'better conditions'...
Sorry to witness the demise of the forum. 😥😥😥😡😡😡I am Spartacus
