Tree fern fronds - tied up for winter

Over the last few years as my tree fern getting bigger by the year in its pot, have struggled to tie the fronds up for wintering and fleecing etc.
This to make things easier for me, I’ve made 2 hula hoops from spare speed-fit pipe. Made 2 male pieces to fit into the pipe ends to form the loop. Fit the open loop around the tree and join the ends then use electrical tape to keep firm the joint. Slide the hoops up to the position needed for storage and fit the fleece.
Alot easier than trying to tie them up with string etc.

@Terrysworld Just to add I understand there is a special fleece for tree ferns that helps keep the water out of the crown.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
  • Thanks, but I store it in the garden shed or garage if frost is harsh and use straw.
